Valid Reasons For an Annulment

We make it easy to determine whether a Nevada annulment is right for you.

Do I Qualify?

There are many different reasons why you may qualify for a Nevada annulment.  Here is a list of the most popular reasons:

  • You marry a close relative, such as a first cousin or sibling
  • You are legally married to someone else at the time you enter into a second marriage
  • You were intoxicated through alcohol, prescription drugs or illegal drugs and you would not have entered into the marriage had you been sober
  • You were under unusual or extreme stress or duress at the time you married and you would not have entered into the marriage under normal circumstances
  • A minor or ward fails to obtain the necessary consent before entering into a marriage
  • You discover that your spouse has committed fraud.  Spousal fraud may include any of the following actions (or inactions) by your spouse:

-Failing to disclose a criminal history

-Failing to disclose past or present mental illnesses

-Failing to disclose a homosexual or bisexual preference

-Failing to disclose past or present drug or alcohol use or abuse

-Agreeing before you enter into the marriage to have children but then your spouse refuses to have kids with you after you are married and having children is highly desirous to you

-Failing to disclose past marriages or the existence of children

  • You entered into an agreement with your spouse to have children after you were married and your spouse later changed his or her mind
  • You believed that your spouse held certain religious views but you discovered after getting married that you were either misled or mistaken

It is important to understand that the explanation above is not a comprehensive list and there are other reasons why you could qualify for a Nevada annulment.  In certain instances where you claim fraud or misrepresentation, a judge may require you to sign sworn affidavits or attend a court hearing.  Where you are required to attend court, you normally can “attend” over the telephone instead of having to come to the courthouse directly, while a Pro Law Group attorney attends in court on your behalf.
